Music, history, and
emotion fuel this dynamic, award-winning tribute to Los Zafiros, the
Beatles of 1960s Cuba...
For those whose lives they briefly
touched, Los Zafiros are legends
Los Zafiros: Music from the Edge of Time
is a thoughtful documentary detailing the careers of a group of Cuban
musicians in late 50's- early 60's who became as famous as the Beatles
in their home country. The film captures the importance of the group to
not only 1950/60's Cuba but also in modern day Cuba where there has been
a resurgence of their music. Through the eyes of two former band
members, who travel through Cuba to remember their past, we see what
affect their music had on both themselves and their country. The focus
of the film is the music itself and the old performances of the band are
vividly captured. This film is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys
good, if unknown, music surrounded by a story of how it came to be.
